1. Acceptance of Terms

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of AILatest Journal — the website at journal.ailatest.org, our browser extensions, and related services (collectively, the "Service"), operated by AILatest ("we", "us"). By accessing the Service or creating an account, you agree to be bound by these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

2. The Service

AILatest Journal is a search and decision-support tool for academic journals. It aggregates publicly available journal metadata and rating information (e.g. impact factors, JCR quartiles, CAS tiers, indexing status) and provides search, favorites, browser-extension badges, and AI-assisted journal recommendation.

Core search and badge display are free. Paid productivity features, if launched later, will be announced separately. They are not currently available for purchase.

3. Accounts

• You may register with an email address or via third-party sign-in (GitHub, Google). You are responsible for safeguarding your account and for all activity under it.
• You must provide accurate information and be at least 16 years old (or the minimum age required in your jurisdiction).
• We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms, abuse the Service (including automated scraping, quota circumvention, or reselling access), or pose a security risk.

4. Future Subscriptions, Trials and Billing

• Paid subscriptions and credit packs are not currently available for purchase.
• New registered accounts may receive a one-time free trial of Pro features. Trials convert to the free tier automatically — no payment method is required and you will not be charged when a trial ends.
• Paid subscriptions are billed in advance on a monthly or annual basis through our payment partner (a Merchant of Record), which handles payment processing, invoicing and applicable taxes.
• Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled before the end of the current billing period. You can cancel at any time; access continues until the period ends.
• Educational discounts require verification of an eligible academic email address and may need re-verification on renewal.
• Refunds are handled per our Refund Policy.
• We may change prices with prior notice; changes apply from your next billing period.

5. Acceptable Use

You agree not to: (a) scrape, bulk-download or redistribute the Service's datasets; (b) circumvent usage limits, paywalls or access controls; (c) reverse engineer the Service except where permitted by law; (d) use the Service to violate any law or third-party right; (e) interfere with the operation or security of the Service.

6. Third-Party Data and Intellectual Property

• Journal ratings and indexing data are compiled from public sources and official releases. All trademarks and rating systems (e.g. Web of Science, JCR, Scopus, CAS tiers, CCF, ABDC, ABS) belong to their respective owners. AILatest Journal is not affiliated with or endorsed by these organizations.
• The Service's software, design and original content are owned by us and protected by applicable intellectual-property laws. We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use the Service.
• You retain ownership of content you submit (e.g. notes, submission records) and grant us a licence to store and process it to provide the Service.

7. AI Features

AI-generated recommendations are decision aids, not professional advice. Outputs may be inaccurate or incomplete — always verify journal information against official sources before submitting a manuscript. Future paid AI usage may be metered by credits after billing is available.

8. Disclaimer of Warranties

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including accuracy, completeness, merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. Rating data may lag upstream releases or contain errors; publication decisions remain your responsibility.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or any loss of data, profits or research opportunities, arising from your use of the Service. Our aggregate liability for any claim shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim (or USD 10 if you paid nothing).

10. Termination

You may stop using the Service or delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate the Service or your access with reasonable notice, or immediately for material breach. Sections 6, 8, 9 and 11 survive termination.

11. Changes and Governing Law

We may update these Terms from time to time; material changes will be announced on the Service. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance. These Terms are governed by applicable law in our place of operation, without regard to conflict-of-law rules; mandatory consumer-protection rules of your country of residence remain unaffected.
